Bothwell Matewe is a Counselling Psychologist, addiction specialist, researcher, and mental health advocate with a passion for preventing addiction and promoting psychological well-being. He is the Founder and Executive Director of UNHOOKED Movement, a Zimbabwean organisation dedicated to addiction prevention, mental health promotion, psychological support, research, and recovery.
Drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience of overcoming gambling addiction, Bothwell has committed his career to helping individuals, families, workplaces, and communities understand addiction, overcome its challenges, and rebuild healthier lives. His work focuses on gambling addiction, behavioural addictions, substance use disorders, mental health promotion, and evidence-based interventions.
Through counselling, training, public speaking, research, and advocacy, Bothwell continues to champion compassionate, accessible, and stigma-free mental health and addiction services, with the vision of creating healthier, more resilient communities across Zimbabwe and beyond.
